It is made with maida and semolina or rava. The sweetness is from sugar or jaggery. Also it is a deep fried snack. <br>I dint know that it is so easy to prepare. My mom used to make this frequently as it was my dad&#8217;s favorite. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cuisine: Indian    <\/li><li>Course: Snack     <\/li><li>Cook time:30mins     <\/li><li>Prep time: 2hrs  <\/li><li>Make:20 Appams.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Cover for filling: <\/span><\/li><li>2 cups Maida <\/li><li>1tsp semolina\/Rava <\/li><li>pinch of salt <\/li><li>2 tbsp oil <\/li><li><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-red-color\">Filling:<\/span> <\/li><li>1\/2 cup ghee <\/li><li>10 cashew nuts(optional) <\/li><li>1 cup semolina\/rava <\/li><li>1 cup water <\/li><li>1 cup sugar or jaggery. <\/li><li>Pinch of cardamom powder <\/li><li>Pinch of saffron(optional) <\/li><li>Oil for deep frying<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-very-dark-gray-color\"><strong>Method: <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cover for Filling: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Mix maida, semolina\/rava and salt. <\/li><li>Add oil and mix well. <\/li><li>Now add water little by little to make a soft dough. <\/li><li>Set aside for 2 hrs.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Filling: <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Heat 1\/2 cup of ghee and add the semolina. <\/li><li>Roast them 3-4 mins. Do not brown them. <\/li><li>Add 1 cup of water and cook the semolina in low heat and keep stirring. <\/li><li>Once semolina is half cooked add 1 cup of sugar\/Jaggery and stir until they thicken. <\/li><li>If needed add 1 tsp ghee. <\/li><li>Mix the powdered cardamom and saffron. I<\/li><li>f needed roast cashew and add in this stage. <\/li><li>Remove from heat and allow them to cool.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>To make appam:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Take the maida dough and divide into small dough balls. <\/li><li>Now roll them to a small circle and place one small portion of the filling in this and pull over the edges and cover. <\/li><li>Now again press the dough with filling into small disc. <\/li><li>Place a kadai with oil for deep frying in medium heat.<\/li><li> Once oil is heat drop the appams one by one and fry both sides golden colour. <\/li><li>Cool and serve.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cuisine: Indian Course: Snack Cook time:30mins Prep time: 2hrs Make:20 Appams.
