This kootu can be made with chow chow, pumpkin, potato, brinjal etc. The main ingredient is the masala powder.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Cuisine: South Indian         <\/li><li>Course: Kootu\/Gravy             <\/li><li>Prep time:10mins          <\/li><li>Cook time: 30mins               <\/li><li>Serves: 4 Persons.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ingredients<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Chana dal 3\/4th cup <\/li><li>Toor dal &#8211; 1\/2 cup <\/li><li>Turmeric pinch <\/li><li>Gingelly oil few drops <\/li><li>Chow chow or any veggie &#8211; 1 cup. <\/li><li>Pressure cook all the ingredients for 3 whistles. Slightly mash it and set aside.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>To roast and grind:<\/strong> <\/li><li>Coconut oil &#8211; 1 tsp <\/li><li>Coriander seeds- 1\/2 tbsp <\/li><li>urad dal &#8211; 1\/4tsp <\/li><li>chana dal- 3\/4th tbsp <\/li><li>Red chillies &#8211; 5 to 6 coconut &#8211; 3 tbsp <\/li><li>Hing <\/li><li>Fenugreek 4 nos. <\/li><li>Roast all these ingredients in coconut oil and grind to powder. Mix the powder with the cooked dal nicely.<\/li><li>In a vessel add 2 cups of soaked and extracted tamarind juice. <\/li><li>Add salt, turmeric and jaggery. Mix well. <\/li><li>Add some pr- soaked(30mins) peanuts. Allow them to boil well. <\/li><li>Now add the pressure cooked dal and boil for 10mins. <\/li><li>To temper: <\/li><li>coconut oil- 2 tsp <\/li><li>mustard-1tsp urad dal and cumin &#8211; 1 tsp each <\/li><li>Curry leaves and red chillies. <\/li><li>Splutter and saute these and add to the kootu. <\/li><li>Serve with hot rice.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cuisine: South Indian Course: Kootu\/Gravy Prep time:10mins Cook time: 30mins Serves: 4 Persons.
